Niagara on the Lake, where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario.
Niagara-on-the-Lake teems with historical plaques, reflecting its significance in the establishment of the first newspaper, lending library, parliament, historical museum, and governing body for the legal profession. Critical battles in the defense of Upper Canada took place at Queenston, including one in which heroine Laura Secord gained her fame. Regency and Classical Revival buildings, from the post-war of 1812, can be seen throughout the town too.
